#10 - (Braces Journey 3: Upper Metal Teeth)

Dear Diary,

As many of you reader had guessed that "Metal Teeth" equals to braces, YES you're right! I've my braces up last friday - 14th June 2013. I'm here to blog about what's my experience about that. Well, for me the whole process it's actually painless and fast. The soreness came after a few hours of fixing till now. My name is called > washing & polishing > glue (a very sourish feel) > Metal pieces up > coloured bands > DONE! I've done research about it, many people said that it cost them about 45mins to 1 hour. But to me, cost less than 20mins max?

I didn't know that I actually had "Over Bite Problem" hence I will do upper braces first than a few months later will do lower braces. Estimated 2 months later provided that my teeth cooperate. First braces appointment I decided to do Red coloured bands, there wasn't much colour to choose from because according to my dentist, more colours will be available from second month onwards. Looking forward for PINK coloured bands. Yipee Ya Ya!

Today was actually day 5 of my braces, it's still very sore and couldn't really bite food. Hence, soft food is my menu now. Kind of slimming down motivation yea? I lost 1kg+ now. JIAYOU!!

The reason why my teeth was so yellowish and unhealthy looking, NOT because I didn't brush my teeth properly etc. I was seriously lack of calcium for my tooth, hence my teeth were seriously brittle than those white parts were filled up from dentist. Therefore, please understand yea? :)

#8 - (Braces Journey 2: Extraction)

Dear Diary,

In additional to my previous blog's post, Dentist Ng from "Boon Lay Dental Surgery" it's great. He jabbed me and filled up my open wound with medication and temporary filling. He said that during 10 days your #27 tooth didn't pain, come back and he will need to give me a permanent filling. If still hurts, no choice but to do removal of root canal. So far so good, it had been 4 days, still no pain, let's pray for the best. :)

About my tooth extraction, I went to "The Oral Maxillofacial Practice" at Mount Elizabeth Novena, Dr Wee for extraction of 2 tooth. I was referred by my braces orthondontist, hence, it caused me $60/tooth and some GST, overall I paid $150 for my extraction of 2 tooth. Dr Wee skills were very good! Name was called, went in, sit down, ask some question, some warning from him, jab, shake shake shake, one tooth out, shake shake shake, another tooth out, apply some medicatiion to aid the healing, dressing and DONE. Whole process wasn't painful at all, just pressure. :)

Mum was feeling very 心痛 for me, she praised me for being very brave~ Mum, step 2 - extraction it's over now. :)

Alright, I admit I freaked out a couple of days before the exact extraction, but everything it's fine now~ Looking forward for braces this coming friday!~ It's gonna be different type of pain for about 2 years. :(

#6 - Dentist Tonight Again.

Dear Diary,

Yesterday night, My Dental Clinic was close, hence, tonight I'm going over again.

I'm gonna trust 2nd dentist from the dental clinic "Boon Lay Dental Surgery". This time round, I'm going to consult Dr Ng and hope he can jab to numb the area of my tooth, than do whatever he gonna do for my decay tooth instead of removal of tooth canal that will drag for months~. If everything went smoothly, hope I can still go for tooth extraction tomorrow than next friday I will start my braces journey. :(

I got a bad feeling that I'm gonna do removal of canal for that tooth, hope it's not going to be true.

The last place I'm going to in my life it's going to the dentist.

#5 - A Traumatized Trip To The Dentist.

Dear Diary,

Those who actually saw my previous post, I've actually planned that this week I need to do filling and polishing of my tooth than extraction of tooth (7June) before proceeding to have braces on (14June). As an aries, I love to plan my schedule ahead to get myself prepared. However, things wasn't going to happen the way I wanted them to be. 人算不如天算. Yesterday I went to "Boon Lay Dental Surgery", my dentist it's Mdm Gay. She proceed with polish my teeth (SGD$80) than commented that she needed to fill 3 of my decayed tooth (SGD$55/tooth). I agreed and she proceed with 2 decayed tooth successfully. However during the 3rd tooth, it hurts so bad till I cried and started to shiver. As an 22 years old matured adult, I really behaved like a childish kid, moving and trying to grab on the dentist's hand. Really disappointed in myself. 

Everything seems to be planned carefully till the Dentist told me, the tooth decayed too much and there's only 2 options. 1, Extract it. 2. Removal of tooth canal. Unfortunately, my Braces orthodontist rejected to extract the decay tooth because it's important. Now my choice it's, I've decided to seek for 2nd dentist opinion by this week than see if they can numb the area by jab and fill everything up because now the decay tooth it's sort of "open" wound, very sensitive now. I didn't experience any pain before I go dentist yesterday, I actually left the place with pain till now. WTF leh. :(

#1 (Braces Journey 1: Consultation)

Dear Diary,

Last Saturday 25th May 2013, I had my first appointment for Braces at "Alfred Cheng Orthodontics Clinic". I've been thinking about braces since many many years ago~ Well, now finally 下定决心 to do braces. Everyone it's very supportive of my decision, really appreciated. :)

Had my first appointment at 930am at ME Hospital for consultations. Dr Alfred Cheng it's really a nice patient guy! Explained to me, duration of braces, different type of braces, extractions of tooth etc. Took some photos and proceed to X-ray. The durations was less than 10mins. THUMBS UP!

Everything it's great there beside the rude and impatient receptionist. Alright, next appointment will be extraction of tooth on the 7 June 2013 and upper braces will be up on 14 June 2013.
